California Oil and Gas
California is experiencing an energy gap of epic proportions. Only the United States and China consume more oil on a daily basis. The California Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources (CDOGGR) calculates in-state production levels at 243.3 million barrels a year; just one-third of the state's current consumption.
California's yearly production levels decrease 2 percent each year, while annual consumption rises about 1 percent. California Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources estimates California’s untapped reserves at 3 billion barrels. |
Industry Information
Crude oil is refined into a variety of petroleum products. The best known is gasoline, while others include asphalt, plastics,
lubricants and perfumes.
Domestic oil production is needed, even with small projects such as this one, because every drop counts.
